Village of Trancas
Hacienda Las Trancaswww.haciendalastrancas.com
We have booked the entire Hacienda Las Trancas for the week leading up to our wedding. You are more than welcome to stay the entire week with us (or just a couple of days), however space is limited and we are of course obligated to give preference to our families (there are 11 huge suites, but the hacienda is capable of sleeping 36 people in total. Contact us sooner rather than later to go over the details if you're interested). The hacienda is all-inclusive, has a heated pool, horseback riding, mountain bikes, private cybex gym, high-speed internet, satellite television, hot/cold water filtration system and a full-time staff of 16. There is a flat fee per guest and those details and more can be found here. Half of the rental fees are donated back to supporting the village of Las Trancas.
City of San Miguel de Allende
Nestled high in the cool hills of the Mexican altiplano, the neighboring town of San Miguel de Allende(SMA) is one the hippest, busiest, most charming towns in Mexico. This seductive little city with clear nights and warm days is overflowing with art, music, and culture. We recommend lodging in San Miguel de Allende which is 40 minutes away from the Hacienda (easily accessible by taxi) as it is host to a wide array of activities as well as a large variety of choices in lodging. San Miguel de Allende has no shortage of charming B&Bs for any budget. Read about San Miguel de Allende in a recent article in The New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/21/greathomesanddestinations/21expat.htmlHere is a list of our hotel recommendations depending on your budget. Please keep in mind that any hotels run by Americans will probably have more comfortable beds.

http://will-emily.blogspot.com/2009/08/budget-places-to-eat-in-san-miguel.htmlTown of Dolores Hidalgo
Hacienda Las Trancas is located just outside the village of Dolores Hidalgo. Dolores Hidalgo is quainter and sleepier than San Miguel de Allende (20 minutes away). It is well known for its pottery and considered just as beautiful and charming. There are not that many hotels however it is considerably less expensive along with everything else in the town. Consider this option if you're looking for something more authentically Mexican with friendly locals. We are not making specific recommendations however here is a sample of what you can find:El Relicario De La Patria Hotel
